Cover Letter - Volunteer Magic

Put Your Volunteer Soft Skills Up Front In Your Cover Letter: The number one soft skill that impresses recruiters is your body of volunteer work. It says more about you than you'll ever know. The quality here is simple, it's unpaid work but work nonetheless. It's your personal sense of community, your sense of selfless giving. You can really WOW many an interviewer with this one. Why? Generally it means you are a great team player, and that is what every employer wants. Will you fit in with their team? This quality alone can be the deciding factor. Showcase your volunteer work in all your job search activities, and get it up front in your cover letter.

Today, your body of volunteer work is as powerful as your education and working experience. Why? Because having all the skills and experience isn't worth much if you have no soul as a person. Great volunteers already know how to communicate, know how to give and to receive, understand compassion and empathy, all the qualities for team player leadership. If this is you, then say so in your cover letter. Be proud of your volunteer experience. These qualities in an employee have never been as important as they are right now. It's cover letter magic!

Recruiters today are more professional, and can spot the truly genuine personalities. If you are a giver by nature, they will notice and you'll get the job interview. These soft skills deserve to be showcased in your cover letter. A volunteer usually communicates very easily. Why? They simply like people! That makes them a tremendous asset to any company looking for leadership in their team players. If you don't say so in your cover letter, a potential employer will never know what kind of asset they are missing out on. I for one, have a very deep respect for the volunteer!

Do you remember the saying, "when the student is ready, the teacher will show up".

Truth is, teachers are always around us, we as students are not always ready for the lesson. If you feel ready and want to write a dynamic cover letter, I never hesitate to recommend Jim Sweeney. He has helped thousands of people just like you. I know you will be impressed at how good Jim's cover letter material is. It's good because it works!
